Prescribing habits get doctor arrested



July 2005 - WILKES-BARRE The state attorney general�s office arrested a doctor with offices in Luzerne, Kingston and Mount Pocono and charged him Friday with prescribing drugs illegally.

Dr. Abul Hussain, 51, of Trenton Court, Wilkes-Barre, was charged with six counts of prescribing controlled substances by a practitioner not in good faith and four counts of Medicaid fraud.

Dr. Hussain is being held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Dr. Hussain allegedly failed to conduct medical examinations on the agents and often did not have medical equipment such as a stethoscope or a blood pressure cuff, agents alleged.
